Historic Design
The American Eagles feature a portrait of Miss Liberty "walking to the dawn of a new day." Each bears the 2011 date and the words “Liberty” and “In God We Trust” on the obverse. A "Spread Eagle" dominates the reverse, surrounded by the words “United States of America,” the historic 13 stars for the 13 colonies, and the official silver content.
American Eagles are not sold directly by the U.S. Mint to the American public. However, they are available from Accent Rare Coins, a private distributor of U.S. government coins.
